The New Year is here, and with it comes an exciting lineup of new and relaunched car models. From stately luxury sedans to hybrids to snappy sports cars that look like they’re moving even when standing still, 2016 offers a wide assortment of new models for auto enthusiasts to choose from.
•Acura NSX. The NSX makes a dramatic return in 2016 as a gas/electric hybrid. But don’t let the hybrid tag fool you. Its snappy V6 engine, augmented by an electric sport hybrid drive system, can still deliver impressive speed through its nine-speed manual transmission and all-wheel-drive system.
• Buick Cascada. Convertible enthusiasts will appreciate the open-air excitement of Buick’s first ragtop in 25 years. The soft top folds in only 17 seconds, and can be raised or lowered while the car is moving (up to 31 mph). Optional features include an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot for mobile Internet access.
• Cadillac ATS-V. Built for speed, this Caddy’s twin-turbocharged V6 engine can reach 60 mph in less than four seconds, with a top speed of 189 mph. The onboard performance data recorder lets you record high-definition video while driving and share it on social media.
•Cadillac CTS-V. Combining luxury with the need for speed, Cadillac’s most powerful sedan can hit 60 mph in 3.7 seconds, and tops out at a max speed of 200 mph. It’s classy styling and luxury features makes this a car to be seen as well as heard.
• Chevrolet Camaro. This sixth-generation sports coupe/convertible boasts updated styling and engineering, and packs a V6 engine that delivers 275 horses of power. Selectable driving modes offer up to eight adjustable vehicle attributes for a smoother ride or better handling.
• Chevrolet Volt. The 2016 version of Chevy’s electric sedan comes with a major makeover, including more dynamic exterior styling, an improved interior, and a longer estimated operating range on a single charge. Promising quicker acceleration and improved fuel economy, this Volt is ideal for short commutes without using gas.
• Mazda MX-5 Miata. One of the all-time favorite roadsters, the Miata comes roaring back with an aggressive redesigned styling and look. With many new features, a more accommodating interior, and the same handling capabilities that made it famous, this version of the Miata is sure to delight both new and old fans.
• Mercedes-Benz AMG GT. Recast for 2016 with audacious exterior styling and a host of innovative safety features, the AMG GT offers a powerful V8 engine and an adjustable exhaust system that lets the driver vary the sound for a quiet driving experience or a louder, “racier” one.
• Fiat 500X. The new Fiat 500X makes a big splash with a smooth blend of Italian style and authentic driving sensibility. Offering a choice of two engines, two transmissions, and front-wheel or all-wheel drive, this attractively designed model delivers room enough for a family at a very affordable price.
• Jaguar XE. A new entry-level luxury sport sedan from the legendary automaker, the Jaguar XE combines a powerful yet fuel-efficient engine with the latest in touchscreen infotainment and safety technologies.
