Most Popular Cars in the Last 10 Years
August 6th, 2015 by Eli P
What’s the most popular car in America?
You might be surprised because it’s not a car, it’s a truck. And not only is it a truck, it’s been the same truck for the past 10 years – the Ford F-150. Which proves that the Ford Motor Company must be doing something right. The list of most popular (best selling) cars in America in the last 10 years includes a mix of trucks, sedans and SUVs. Which is no surprise considering that more than 500 different makes and models can be found traversing the highways and byways of America. What’s interesting is how little the list has changed in the past 10 years. It seems like once Americans find a model they like, they remain loyal to it year in and year out.

According to Edmunds.com, the best-selling cars 10 years ago were:
- Ford F Series
- Chevrolet Silverado
- Toyota Camry
- Dodge Ram
- Honda Accord
- Honda Civic
- Nissan Altima
- Chevrolet Impala
- Chevrolet Malibu
- Chevrolet Trailblazer
Interestingly, only four foreign-made cars cracked the list, while Chevrolet had the most entries with four.

Five years later, we begin to see a change in American automobile preferences. The Ford F-150 remained the #1 choice, but the number of foreign cars on the list increased to six. Chevrolet models declined to two, and Dodge dropped off the list altogether.

As of last year, the Ford F-150 remains king. Foreign makes remained steady at six, and Dodge re-entered the list with its Ram 1500 truck. Meanwhile, Chevrolet continued its decline, with only one car making the list.
